Record of Ragnarok is easily the most disappointing anime for me this season. The only person I would recommend this to is someone whos favorite anime is Baki, and I still worry it might be a waste of time. I only watched it since I just came out and I only finished it by skipping past a lot of flashbacks and through some episodes. Easily the worst part of this show for me.Ī more reasonable rating would be a 2-3 but I'll give it a 3.5 since I watched all of it and it passed the time. All the characters treat this massive death battle like a chill game of football or they comedically overreact, only 1 character showed real emotion and it lasted for no more then 10 seconds before going back to normal. After watching the first 12 episodes none of the characters left an impact. Only gets a 3 because a lot of anime do this poorly.Īwful. The punches didn't have a lot of sound and the impact was lackluster. The actual characters and certain moments look pretty cool but overall the animation is sloppy and trash, giving it a 3 for art. The story is basic but since most fighting anime like this have basic stories I gave its a higher score then it would get otherwise. The story is about 13 Valkyries and 13 of histories strongest humans teaming up to beat the gods in a tournament to save The story of Record of Ragnarok is not very deep at all. This anime simply doesn't hold up to others like Baki or Kengen Ashura which fill the same category but remain better in everyway, now lets get into why. I heard quite a few good things about this manga before the anime came out and now I doubt manga readers will be happy with the quality of this anime. I encourage you to watch "Record of Ragnarok". If you like well-written characters, good animation, nice fights, and awesome soundtracks. The story is good, the art is great, the sound is fantastic, the characters are my favorite thing from the show (especially Adam), and it is pretty enjoyable. That made me enjoy every fight and because of that, the outcome of each fight is crucial so you don’t get bored. I find it fantastic that each fight has a plot weight since humanity is fighting to survive. Show takes the time to tell you a bit about each character, so you can empathize with them and is not just a God and human fighting.
Also, I love the interactions between the characters fighting and how each fight is full of emotions, and the soundtracks perfectly match with what you’re watching. In my opinion, it is a very good anime, I usually don't like slow-paced fights but for some reason, this anime did it so well that I enjoyed it and wanted to see more about each character. I think people hype this anime so much to the point where it didn't matter if it was good or bad, people will still be disappointed. After Raiden's death, she was send to Niflhel.Īlvitr was chosen to perform a Völundr with Qin Shi Huang in his fight against Hades. This is my first review so don't get mad at me. Thrud was chosen to perform a Völundr with Raiden in his fight against Shiva. Despite being against the idea, she was forced to do it anyway. Hlökk was chosen to perform a Völundr with Jack the Ripper.
With Poseidon's death, Hrist and Sasaki spend the rest of Ragnarok watching the other rounds together. Hrist was chosen to perform a Völundr with Kojiro Sasaki going against Poseidon. After Adam's death, she was send to Niflhel. Reginleif was chosen to perform a Völundr with Adam in his fight against Zeus. After Lu Bu's defeat, she went to Niflhel. Randgriz was chosen to perform a Völundr with Lü Bu during the first round of Ragnarok. Brunhilde briefly discussed Thor's strengths and weaknesses with Randgriz and asked her to perform a volund with Lü Bu which she agreed. Somewhere between the Gods' Council and the start of Ragnarok, All the 11 Valkyries met with Göll and Brunhilde to help them fight against the gods. This group of 13 individuals chosen by the Valkyries are known as the Einherjar. If a human warrior dies, then a valkyrie suffers the same fate as the human representative and both of them are send to Niflhel. The souls gathered by the Valkyries were the force they prepared to fight against the gods should Ragnarok begin. Instead the Valkyries would bond with their chosen warriors and transform into weapons befitting of the wielder in a pact that would be known as Völundr. However, a rumor has floated around since ancient times that the Valkyries goals was never to create an army for Heaven. These warriors were to be used as an army for the gods. The Valkyries are a group of thirteen demigoddesses that are charged with choosing the most worthy human warriors and guiding their souls to Valhalla after their death.
